REMO JAMES JONES*
FIFTH year, FIFTEEN years old
representing HUFFLEPUFF, bearing a WAND wand
Remo Jones is a free runner. That’s his thing. He prefers cities for their rooftops and railings but Hogwarts is definitely not without its interesting and surmountable obstacles. He took it up in a big way when he was thirteen. He was born and raised in inner city Bristol. It’s just him and is dad, who is a cop but a very liberal kind of guy that has long come to the conclusion the best way not to alienate he son is… to not alienate his son. They have a really cool relationship, very open. Remo gets a lot of freedom and free range and does his utmost not to break any laws in return. Which is actually a larger concession than you might think because he does love his free running (that occasional strays through the realms of private property) and his street art (which he considers to be exactly that, ART), and his street dance. His dad has pulled in enough of his friends for disorderly behaviour to be concerned but has never had to book his son… yet. And also, getting to know these kids in interview rooms, they’re a rowdy bunch but big on loyalty and very protective of their own. There are definitely worse crowds Remo could have fallen into.
Remo’s a halfblood but the magic is all from his mother’s side and she’s not in the picture anymore and hasn’t been for a while so it has been a bit of learning curve for Remo and his dad. His dad lives on a bit of a need to know basis. He had a minor freak out when Remo tried to communicate the thrill of free running on moving staircases and the huge drop and not knowing whether you were going to make the banister of the one below before it moved. The worry for his dad was all a bit much.
Remo is a fairly average student. Not the top of any of his classes but puts in the study time (even though he’d rather be outside) to not be the bottom either. He’s a big fan of quidditch, though is one of the least competitive people you will ever meet. He’s all about the art, man. About pushing himself and his team mates to be the best flyers and aerial acrobats they can be. One of his favourite new things is working with the other chasers to come up with really slick exciting moves and passes. He bought is first broom this past year with money he made over the whole course of a summer doing street dance busking in Bristol. Generally speaking he’s usually a bit broke, but money’s not something that he’s really that bothered about and he and his dad get by. They make it work. Magic has been a huge help though, repairing things and making stuff last.
